Loving support for your knitting journey
Hello and welcome!
My name is Mariah (she/her) and I would love to be your knitting guide. I have nearly 2 decades of knitting experience and have found a passion for helping others on their knitting journey.
I am a certified knitting instructor through the Craft Yarn Council , a licensed physical therapist and budding designer. I love helping others grow in their craft and draw on my therapeutic background to help others reach their fullest knitting potential.
If you are looking for a knitting instructor, please feel free to contact me with any inquiries about my services. I do private virtual lessons and in person teaching for local yarn stores and events.

Services Provided
As a knitting instructor, I am able to provide educational services depending on the needs of the individual, store or event. Below are some examples of classes that I teach regularly, but please feel free to reach out to me if there are specific classes that you are looking to have classes for.
Continental Knitting
The two most popular knitting styles are English and Continental. There are many good reasons to know how to do both, but most claim that the continental style of knitting is faster. In this class, you will learn the basic techniques for continental knitting including knits and purls. This class will also provide other tips and tricks for making your knitting more efficient in order to become a faster knitter.
Stranded Knitting Basics
In this class, you will learn the basic techniques for 2 stranded color work knitting. We will discuss optimal yarn types, how to choose colors for your projects and review chart reading. You will discover your ideal method for managing 2 strands of yarn and learn the magic of trapping floats. We will work together through a simple color work chart that I will provide for class that is designed to give you the opportunity to practice the techniques learned in class.
Understanding Gauge
The secret to a great fitting knitted garment is swatching. In this class we will discuss how to knit a good swatch and measure gauge. You will learn how to get accurate gauge measurements, ideal blocking techniques, and how to use your measurements to make sure your next garment fits the way you want.
Knitting Concierge Service
Get the one on one help you need to take your knitting to the next level.
My Knitting Concierge Service is designed for individuals looking for private knitting support from an experienced knitter. These are virtual sessions or in person if you live in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
Choose between a 1 month, 2 month, or 3 month plan based on your personal needs and goals. You can also book a free consultation session below to ask questions and see if this service is right for you.
4 sessions will be scheduled for each month. The virtual sessions will be scheduled over Zoom. During that time you will have the opportunity to discuss goals, ask questions, receive instruction and any other support required.
You will have access to a private Discord server where you can get timely responses to more urgent knitting questions.
My goal is to be able to provide you with the amount of support you need that is adjustable with your progress. Services provided include (but are not limited to) pattern support, yarn recommendations, in depth instruction on techniques, help with correcting mistakes and shopping.
“I met Mariah at a Sheep and Fiber festival in August of 2021 where I had signed up for a beginning knitting class. I needed a review as it had been several years since I had knitted. Mariah was very helpful, friendly, and very educated on techniques I needed to review. She was very patient and FUN! After the festival I continued to work with Mariah via classes on Zoom. She is very interested in you and what you want to learn. She will help you with finding patterns and yarns for your projects. I am so excited for her new endeavor and plan on being the first to sign up and continue my lessons with her!”
